Got caught in the weather this time... Oct 6, 2014

Downpours at times

Storm clouds rolled in from the gulf this morning headed right for my RV site of course. The clouds were very dark and ominous, filling the sky with multiple levels of unpleasantness. As you can imagine I decided to move my home to better weather. Because I can. I did manage to leave before the rain came and I was managing to outrun the storm going east on I-10 toward New Orleans. Then it happened. Traffic came to a stand still. I moved 3 miles in an hour and a half. A semi with a load of oily waste had a mishap and spilled his load all along the highway near Rayne, LA. And Rain it did. I suppose it was appropriate weather for this swampy region of the US. After that the highway was on 30 ft pedestals. Yes for miles and miles I-10 goes right through Lake Bigeaux and the Atchafalaya River way which is really just swamp land with dying cypress trees, muddy water and reptiles. then there was the mighty Mississippi again this time I was going west to east. Reached my overnight stay in a small town named Hammond, LA. Most of the RV's, motorhomes, trailers and campers house people who live here all year long. ( permanent residents of an 8x20 or 8x30 if lucky enough). I feel blessed and fortunate to be able to move mine daily if I wish and have a different front yard and view out my picture window on any particular day. I went into town to get groceries and also found a Camping World RV store to get a few miscellaneous items the RV needed. I had roast chicken, rice and peas for supper, researched things to do around this area, made plans for tomorrow and now making this entry for the blog and my head will hit the pillow very soon. By the way... it was not ordinary roasted chicken. My new friends introduced me to "Tony Chachere's More Spice" I picked some up at the grocery store and seasoned tonights supper with it. Roasted chicked with a cajun twist. Mmmm!!! ~Link to Photos~
