Ribs n' Cribbage night tonight... Oct 4, 2014
Another beautiful day in Texas. Found my way down US 6 onto I-290 then the Sam Houston Pkwy to give away some money at the toll booths. I was good till I hit the Sam Houston. There must be a toll booth every 5 miles or so on this thing. For me it's big money!! Each time through it was the equivalent of two happy hour draft beers. Somebody in the organization is drinking on me tonight. After two of those I got off it, as I could see it was not ending soon. I remembered that Jason said the beltway ran alongside the pkwy so I tried that. No tolls but a stop light every few blocks. Made it to my Walmart destination in mid afternoon and went inside to ask if it was ok to park overnight. The manager said "NO, for your safety I say no." Looking around again, as I did previously when first arriving, it appeared I had driven more south than I wanted to. I agreed with him. So I found a nice little gated RV resort that Jason and I traveled to and registered. I had called two other location and they were full for the night. This one is very nice and the friendly staff were superb. Thanks Alex and Sonia. Best I've stayed at. My nephew Jason treated me out for BBQ tonight. Nice little quaint place and the BBQ sauce they served was tremendous. I had ribs and he had brisket. I liked the looks of his better ;) We drove for a bit on the freeways and then landed back at the RV for a drink. Jason accepted my challenge to play cribbage. He said he hadn't played for a while but he did fantastic and took game 1. He offered a redemption game and I was all in. I did manage to take game 2. As we each were winners I thought it best to remember our night and my visit just that way. It was absolutely wonderful to hang out with this great young man for so long today. Tomorrow I'll be searching for crawfish, gulf shrimp or gumbo for dinner and it won't be in Houston.
